A: We generally try to make it so that traps are unnecessary by polling for most of the data you'd need. If traps or syslog are necessary, it's likely that statically assigned collectors are necessary. It's possible if you're using LM Logs to capture these flows on dedicated collectors. 22:00 Question: Please demonstrate Safe LogicModule Merge in the exchange Answer: We showed a few things; note that the LM exchange is about to be changed 32:15 Question: Is it possible to add scripted text to a dashboard Answer: There are several potential ways to make dashboard text dynamic. Text widgets are actually in HTML and can be worked with programmatically. It's also possible to use the HTML widgets to embed content from other web services. 39:30 Question: How do I write efficient groovy scripts for data collection? Answer: We give a quick rundown of some good coding practices, including using BatchScript for collection.0Views0likes0Comments2021-05-05 Product Overview Training

Here's the recording from this morning's session: a href="https://communities.logicmonitor.com/topic/6251-dynamic-dashboards/" rel="">Here's the widget mentioned in this morning's session. Here are the questions asked and where you can find the answers in the videos: Q [9:17]Do you know if there are any plans to provide filtering on dashboards so that you can make them a bit contextual?. An example is that we have a customer with about 900 sites and the are pretty much identical. So would be good to be able to filter down to a device to drive the context of charts on the dashboard rather than having a dashboard per site. I know you can state a default device token, however its not really user friendly especially if you dont give manage rights to the dashboard. It would be good to see the widget, thanks for that suggestion. No rush if others have other questions. Q: [24:10] Would you be able to run through a setup of a Service? example could be a web server, a sql server etc and how they alert?. no thanks Q: [36:32] Hi Stuart, Maybe a question often asked an often answered. How can i give access to a dashbroad for a kiosk pc/account Ok, nice. And because we use SAML/SSO you would you for that shared dashboard use a account outside of the federation? Q: [47:13] Another question. Decrease the polling interval for snmp globaly. possible somehow? my linux guys are bothered about the logs ok so i have to do that on every datasource2Views0likes0Comments2021-01-06 LogicMonitor Product Overview Webinar (aka LogicMonitor Basics Webinar)

Hello, We've been noticing a weird issue ultimately with the 'PingMulti-' data source. Some instances stop working from time to time, however, by disabling/enabling them they start to respond again. This is concerning b/c we've thousands of Ping instances (for our clients) & it doesn't seem to represent a 'REAL' issue. Does anyone faced this in the past? Picks up chassis, environment and system alarms in Juniper Networks devices. Juniper defines events as yellow and red alarms; this looks at the OIDs that contains the current count of each. This will catch-- among other things-- HW failures and high temperature situations that other Juniper component datasources may not, along with boot partition corruption, a full /var partition and absence of a rescue configuration that would all otherwise require snmp traps or syslog to detect. Note that tells nothing about the nature/description of events, you'll need to login to a device to determine those. It is compatible with Juniper devices that run the craftd process as part of their Junos (EX switches, QFX switches, modular MX routers and at least some SRX services gateways). Here are at least two items that need to be added to make the dashboard token feature more useful: adjust widgets that cannot use tokens so they can (e.g., Alerts, Netflow, etc.) allow arbitrary tokens tobe inserted as needed within widget fields (e.g., device patterns, instance patterns, etc.) A concrete example of the latter came upon me this morning. We have multiple locations with similar equipment for which we want to display Internet usage details, one set per dashboard (cgraph and netflow widgets). The edge device names vary as do the uplink ports to the ISPs in each location. Cloning this dashboard solves virtually nothing as every single widget still requires editing. If the tokens could be used, these dashboards could be cloned without the manual editing other than filling in the necessary tokens. In some cases the tokens are insertable, but most fields do not allow them. In this case, I defined various tokens like isp_1_name, isp_1_edge_device, isp_1_edge_port, etc. but could use them in very limited ways ultimately making the exercise pointless. As with many things, we can at least workaround this with the API (at least I believe I could with some effort), but it would be much more accessible to folks if handled within the UI.mnagel4 years agoProfessor6Views4likes0Comments2020-11-18 - Office Hours

US Session registrationhere EMEA Session Registration here2Views1like4CommentsUsing the LogicMonitor Account name in LogicModules that call the LM API
Quick tip... EDIT:Now updated with an even quicker tip... When (if!) you're creating a scriptedLogicModule that calls the LogicMonitor API, you need the account name (<accountName>.logicmonitor.com), API token ID, andAPI token key. You can set all these as resource properties of course, but it seems a bit annoying to have to tell resources in the LogicMonitor account their own account name, right? So you might end up with a section of script like this: def accessId = hostProps.get("lm.api.id"); def accessKey = hostProps.get("lm.api.key"); def account = hostProps.get("lm.api.account"); Here's the thing: Collectors run these scripts. Collectors know which account they belong to, it's in their agent.conf file. Collectors can read their own agent.conf file. It's in a line like: company=<accountName> It's possible to pull out collector settings within scripts, therefore, this works: import com.santaba.agent.util.Settings // You'll need the above import... // ...then: account = Settings.getSetting("company") // and then... accessId = hostProps.get('lm.api.id'); accessKey = hostProps.get('lm.api.key'); Ta-dah! A property you no longer haveto set...Antony_Hawkins4 years agoEmployee1View1like0CommentsCisco BGP Peers (with IPv6 support)

I would like to have SSL expiration profiles I can apply to websites with automatic selection based on the CA. This is (for now) based on the fact that Let's Encrypt certificates tend to have short expiration intervals, but it seems like a good general solution to discover stuff automatically as elsewhere within LM. Hey guys, I want to forward the feature request ofHaving the number of WEIGHTED instance count displayed, even when under Collector RAW Instance Count threshold. So we as an MSP have been pushing Collector usage to really weird and unconventional scenarios. Often we have to justify why certain number of resources provided to us in the VM/s clients provide us are not helpful. Usually we can get away with it since once the RAW Instance count of, say a large collector, goes beyond 20k and our collector is still functioning very well since the weighted instance count is like 5k. It becomes difficult when we have 20k of RAW instances, or even less, but the weighted instance is much much more. We get into a position of WHY DID X WORK? THEY HAVE THE SAME/LESS NUMBER OF INSTANCES. It is especially painful, when we wish to request more resources, because more devices are inbound for monitoring, that will definitely explode the Weighted Instance count and make monitoring impossible. For very large and process oriented clients we need a referenceable number to point to. And raw instance count often does not cut it, especially if the instances are heavy duty, and worth 3 instances, therefore the weighted instance are 3x.1View2likes0CommentsStanding Maintenance Windows
