Monitoring interface ports on a network switch

Hi, I newbie to LogicMonitor and have been using this plafform for the last 1-2 months.

We have a network switch in our platfrom that wasn’t been monitored. We setup monitoring but kept alerting off until we could see data being polled properly. Checked this device this morning and information such as CPU etc.. looks to be polling but the port interfaces on this switch don’t appear to be polled properly..

How to enable monitoring of port interfaces on a switch?

@acampbell78 So to verify…. You added a network switch into LogicMonitor. Standard items came back like CPU, Memory, etc… But not Network Interfaces?

If that is the case, that is usually down to the access given to the specific SNMP setup you are using. Verify that the community string or your v3 setup is allowing you to pull those OIDs.

That’s possibly the case. Have you done a test of active discovery or data collection on the SNMP_Network_Interfaces DS on that device?

  • Yes @Joe Williams the issue was to do with the community string.. It did have the correct access. Resolved this and it is now pollind data in relation to the network interfaces on the switch.

  • Typically, this would be accomplished by SNMP_Network_Interfaces. What make and model device?
